Overview |
Peter Othen has worked full time in
the IT industry for over a decade, primarily training on a wide range of
Microsoft products, particularly server products. His particular
specialisations are platforms and databases, with an extensive knowledge
of all versions of Windows NT from 3.1 to Windows Server 2003, and
Microsoft SQL Server from version 4.21. Originally working in the public
training arena, Peter started working with Microsoft nine years ago and
for the last six years or so Peter has worked almost exclusively at
Microsoft or their large corporate partners such as HP or Siemens, but
with some work done at a number of banks. Recently he was asked by
Microsoft Global Learning Services to be the lead trainer for EMEA on
the training development for Yukon, the next version of SQL Server. He
also has a particular interest in and knowledge of clustering
technologies, starting twenty years ago when working on a project to
develop nuclear reactor control systems written in Fortran 77 on Digital
Vax clusters. More recently he wrote internal training courses on
Windows clustering for Microsoft and has delivered these courses many
times to Microsoft and their partners. He also has knowledge of Windows
security technologies, being a trainer at Microsoft of their internal
security-related course and presenting to large MCS audiences in a
number of airlift events. He has also been involved in large scale
events for SQL Server, Windows Datacenter Server and High Availability
held at Microsoft in the US.
Peter began full time employment after completing his doctorate at
Oxford Computer Group (OCG), where he was rapidly promoted to Senior
Systems Lecturer, responsible for a team of almost 40 people. In early
1998 Peter left OCG after it’s acquisition by Aris Corporation to form a
training and consultancy partnership with two OCG colleagues, Ian
Cunningham and Julie Cunningham.
